Treatment

Counseling
The PAAC provides counseling services to individuals who have mental health challenges. The PAAC counselor is located at the Behavioral Health Wellness Recovery Center and specializes in substance use addiction and mood disorders. The primary responsibility of the counselor is to listen as clients describe problems, help individuals develop coping skills, as well as create goals and treatment plans that promote a higher quality of life. Both group and individual counseling sessions are offered regularly. Because every client is different and struggling with various degrees of addiction, the counselor will work with individuals in a crisis or make referrals to a higher level of care based on need.

Additionally the counselor promotes methods, such as 12-step programs, peer support or whatever pathway an individual chooses to help clients toward recovery. Since PAAC sees family as foundational in recovery, upon request the Counselor will meet with family members to provide additional guidance and education on how to aid loved ones in the recovery process.
